Biographies

Marcia L. Rementer, DMD is an honors graduate of Duke University(BS, 1974) and Temple University School of Dentistry (DMD, 1981). Dr. Rementer maintains a family dental practice in Durham, NC where she emphasizes state-of-the-art restorative and cosmetic treatment options. In 1996, Dr. Rementer introduced air abrasion, which wipes away tooth decay with a gentle stream of concentrated air and mild abrasive. All you hear is the sound of air passing over the tooth-no whining drill and no injection. And, in 1999, Dr. Rementer brought CEREC 3D, an acronym for ceramic reconstruction to the Triangle. CEREC 3D uses computers to design and mill (CAD-CAM) metal-free onlays, veneers, and crowns. Dr. Rementer is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, American Academy of computer Dentistry, and a graduate of the Esthetic Epitome Continuum in Charlotte, NC where Dr. Rementer mastered smile design concepts utilized with esthetic fixed restorations such as veneers and all-ceramic crowns and onlays. Dr. Rementer believes that her mastery of these same subjects (smile design and esthetics) help her to create properly fitting and esthetically pleasing removable dentures, too. Dr. Rementer and her husband, Denis Raczkowski, are the parents of two daughters, Elizabeth (a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and Margaret (a student at Riverside High in Durham). To relax, Dr. Rementer travels to places near (Outer Banks) and far (Singapore), reads mystery novels, cooks spectacular meals, solves crossword puzzles, and follows Duke basketball.

Denis Raczkowski is the office manager, the person responsible for everything from staff management to payroll and accounting, to dealing with vendors and customer relations. In preparation for this job, Denis earned undergraduate (BS, 1973) and doctorate (Ph.D., 1978) degrees from Duke University, and taught neurobiology at Duke University until he retired from academia in 1990. Outside the dental office, Denis owns a real estate investment company. Recently, Denis completed the Raleigh and Marine Corp marathons. When not managing or running, Denis avidly follows ACC basketball and the Durham Bulls baseball club.
Jean Lascola is the front office commander, Colonel Do-it-all, the person who keeps Dr. Rementer's dental office running. The second you call or walk into the office, Jean will greet you with a smile, answer your questions and direct you to what you need. Jean is married to "Big Charlie" and she has raised five children and is mother hen to eight grandchildren. Jean and Charlie enjoy fishing and motorcycling.
Wendy Bowling, RDH and Emily Kelton, RDH are Dr. Rementer's hygienists and they are your dental health coaches. Aside from having cracker-jack technical skills, Wendy and Emily are experts at identifying patient concerns and briefing them on their options using photos, models, interactive CD-ROM systems and intraoral cameras. Wendy received her degree (BS, hygiene) from UNC in 1995, is married to Shawn and the proud mother of Brandon and twins, Brooke and Blake. Wendy enjoys softball. Emily received her degree (BS, hygiene) from UNC in 2001, would like to be married, enjoys spending time with her family and knows a lot about diet and nutrition.
Tracy Connors, CDA is Dr. Rementer's certified dental auxiliary. Clinically, Tracy is very proficient but what sets her apart (in the patients' eyes) is her ability to communicate. Every patient who has some "numb time" gets an "I care" call from Tracy just to make sure the anesthetic has worn off and the patient doesn't have any immediate problems. Tracy will call a week later, and a week later, until the patient is satisfied with our dentistry. Tracy is married to Chris and she is the mother of three children.
Tracey Peed is Dr. Rementer's assistant and it is her job to make certain that the clinic runs smoothly and efficiently. Tracey enjoys softball and NASCAR.
