Dental Technology
Contemporary Care for an Outstanding Experience
We believe a visit to the dentist should be a positive, pleasant experience, so Dr. Rementer has invested in modern tools and technology that increase comfort and save time. From laser dentistry to our revolutionary CEREC machine that custom-mills fine dental restorations in one visit, we bring you the best of modern dental care.
Modern Diagnostic and Treatment Tools
During your checkup or new patient exam, we'll take digital X-rays for a comprehensive view of your teeth and supporting structures. A digital X-ray machine emits about 80% less radiation than traditional radiography and does not require harsh chemicals for development, so they're safer for you and the earth. Digital are immediately viewed on chairside monitors, electronically transmitted to insurance companies and specialists, and safely stored and retrieved on our computers.
No one likes a dental drill. That's why Dr. Rementer uses air abrasion to remove decay and prepare teeth for restoration. Non-invasive air abrasion sprays a stream of concentrated air and tiny abrasive particles to whisk away decay. This gentle, quiet method of cavity removal is so comfortable that most patients don't require anesthesia. Dr. Rementer introduced air abrasion to her patients in 1997. It's been getting rave reviews ever since!
Laser Dentistry
Lasers have revolutionized the dental field. With laser dentistry, Dr. Rementer increases patient comfort and delivers efficient, effective care. At our Durham dental office, we use a state-of-the-art DIAGNOdent laser by KaVo to identify early-stage tooth decay. This high-tech tool locates areas of demineralization, which are precursors to cavities. Early detection means rapid intervention and easier, less costly treatment to restore your tooth to health. You'll spend less time in the dental chair and more time doing the things you love - all thanks to laser dentistry.
CEREC
In the past, preserving a tooth meant applying a custom crown or metal filling. Crowns took multiple visits to design and place, and patients had to wait weeks for their restorations to be created in a dental lab. Metal fillings have fallen out of favor due to questions about the safety of mercury in dental amalgam. So patients and dentists alike have sought a fast, safe alternative to attractively return form and function to compromised teeth. The answer? CEREC - a state-of-the-art machine that custom-mills restorations on site while you wait mere minutes!
This modern technology offers a conservative approach to preserve healthy tooth structure. With strong ceramic, not metal, blocks, the CEREC machine mills custom restorations that look and feel like natural teeth. Plus, it's fast. Dr. Rementer will design, create, and place your CEREC filling or crown in a single visit. In fact, convenience is one of the top reasons so many of our patients choose CEREC restorations.
We're proud to say that Dr. Rementer was one of the first dentists in the United States to adopt CEREC technology and embrace the exciting new field of computerized restorative dentistry. It's just one of the many ways she delivers quality care and outstanding service for terrific smiles!
